Eagle′s minimum essential medium (MEM) is a synthetic culture medium composed of balanced salt solutions, amino acids, and vitamins. These components are essential for the growth of cultured cells. MEM may be supplemented with non-essential amino acids in order to make MEM Non-Essential Amino Acids solution (MEM-NEAA).
MEM-NEAA is used as a supplement for cell culture media in order to increase cell growth and viability. MEM-NEAA contains the same non-essential amino acids found in the standard MEM at a strength of 100X.
MEM is one of the most commonly used of all cell culture media for diagnostic virology. MEM can be used with a variety of suspension and adherent mammalian cells, including HeLa, BHK-21, 293, HEP-2, HT-1080, MCF-7, fibroblasts.
Standard volume includes 100 mL bottles (cat. no. NEAA03), other volumes including 500 mL (cat. no. NEAA01) and 1000 mL bottles (cat. no. NEAA02), and are available upon request.
